3 Station Cottages | House in Wymondham, England

Positive: Loved staying in the cottage over Christmas and the close proximity to the train station, shops etc. Loved the oldness of the cottage with its beams and wooden staircase, but also modern enhancements. The location was very private and quiet with good off road parking for the car. Many items provided by the owner for convenience.

Negative: Would have liked a microwave and a hairdryer. The double bed mattress could do with being replaced very soon. But none of these things affected my enjoyment of the stay.

Positive: It was an ok location not the best.

Negative: We had a long journey when we arrived we desperately wanted a cup of tea but the kettle was so thick and slushy with limescale we couldn't use it. We phoned one of the contacts to let them know that when I opened the cupboard above the sink a lid of a casserole dish fell out and landed on the drainer on top the dishes I had hand washed and broke several just missed my head. We also relayed the cooker was filthy. The kettle was replaced by a new one on the Wednesday but the oven wasn't resolved. The patio table was very green so unable to use it and the BBQ was rusty. I recommend if using this cottage that you only use bottled water for boiling and drinking. Not all the Venetian blinds worked properly and they were very dusty. It felt like we were the first show of the season and not had any time to get ready maybe. The front door is warped and the inside top latch doesn't bolt because of this . The entrance to the drive is very snug and the gate needs to be lifted to shut and the paint is green and rubbed off every time you tried to use it. If all these things were addressed this would have been a much better experience. There was a mention of a hot tub but unless it was in one of the locked up sheds nowhere to be seen. I never complain normally but feel these issues needed to be mentioned.

Positive: We had a great time in Wymondham. We had a small issue with the heating, but Holly dealt with it within about 20 minutes. Lovely place, and really handy for train links to Norwich, Ely, Cambridge and beyond. We would definitely go again. Nice clean accommodation. Great value.

Positive: Extremely well equipped, warm , clean and cosy cottage. Very comfortable beds, and a nice welcome pack. Only a 10 minute walk into Wymondham centre and literally yards from the railway station. Have already booked for next year. Highly recommended.

Positive: NA

Negative: Needs a bit of a deep clean no mop or sweeping brush to clean floors. Fridge needed to be defrosted. Tried calling hosts but no reply despite leaving a message. Couldn't access the wifi.

Positive: Location was great, nice garden, car parking was good. Very quiet despite being close to the station, Station Bistro was a bonus.

Negative: The cottage could do with some additional useful items including: a bristle outdoor mat at the back door and a rug inside the back door, kitchen roll and a kitchen hand towel, a smaller towel for hair drying to go with the bath towel and a soft indoor broom to sweep the floor. There were so many air fresheners it was a little overpowering, we assume they are to mask the smell of damp from the bathroom, which is quite strong. The internet is very slow, we couldn’t stream tv programmes properly despite the new smart tv. Several places we wanted to look up to find to eat were blocked as they were pub websites, the lottery results site was blocked. Many people, like us, rely on the internet for looking up where to go, we resorted to using our phone data at times as the internet was far too slow.

Positive: Attractive little cottage right near railway station , but with minimal train noise which was great!

Negative: A few minor diy jobs need attending to
