While isolated, the cabin is only 9.5 miles from Ouray,12 miles from Ridgway, and 1.5 hours to Telluride. The home is a perfect balance of mountain life, with modern amenities and proximity to small town hospitality and fun.

The journey to the cabin does not come without adventure. The road does wind up a steep mountain on a dirt road, with no guard rail . The road might be a bit intense for those who get nervous on mountainous roads. We heavily recommend AWD or 4x4 vehicles.

PLEASE NOTE: While secluded, we do have neighbors and ask that guests be aware of their volume and that sound travels atop the mountain. We also DO NOT allow ATVs, UTVs, etc. (even trailered) on the property.

WINTER GUESTS: We can get a lot of snow up here! The road is plowed/maintained all winter. However, they will only plow if there is at least 6 inches of snow on the ground. It may, at times, take them a full day until they can get the plow up to the cabin. You MUST have an AWD/4x4 vehicle if you book in the winter. If you are not comfortable driving in at least 6 inches of snow on a mountain road, this may not be the cabin for you over the winter months. Snow begins to fall here in the month of November.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

The cabin was built in 1983. It has all the amenities of home, but it is in a rustic location surrounded by forest. As such, it is not immune to an occasional mouse or two if the doors are left open and food left out. However, we are very active in controlling this issue and have gone through great lengths to seal up the place and eliminate these critters.

We are in bear country. The bears around here will sooner run away than approach you. However, we do recommend guests hike the property with bear spray (we provide bear spray and ask that guests leave it behind when they depart).

Finally, due to a high risk of forest fires, we do not allow ANY fires outside. The wind here can change quickly and blow embers far away, causing a fire. Guests have a propane fire table on the deck in lieu of wood fires. Once you get back, unwind on the balcony most units feature, or head down to the pool and fitness center for a change of scenery. Every suite comes with free WiFi, a flat-screen TV, and cashless, contactless self check-in via the virtual front desk. A private bathroom, single-room air conditioning, and a full kitchen are featured in every 42–91 m² suite or studio. King beds furnish the 1-bedroom suites, while studios pair a queen with a sofa bed, and select studios add a soaking bathtub. Full toiletries are stocked throughout, and thanks to the in-unit washer and dryer, you’ll be able to travel light.
