Atomic Motel | Hotel in Astoria

Easy check in, economy room. Needs some maintenance but comfortable.

This hotel was a lot more run down than I expected for the price and really needs a facelift. The location was great. The rooms were tiny.

Atomic Motel is a fun property with helpful staff right on the main drag in Astoria. The only downside is that the bathroom is small with round toilet bowls. Really that is the only real downside. Kuerig Machine in the rooms is a plus, and the available Queen x2 + Twin rooms is a handy little difference for some travelors. The only other downside is that the rooms with two beds are a Queen and a Twin. But they show you the room options going in so it isn't a surprise. (Queen, Queen + Twin, Queen x2 + Twin being the options)

This motel was cute, but pretty run down. The bed was comfortable. The motel is dog-friendly and they provided us with a cute basket of dog supplies (to use and then return.) Those are honestly the best things I can say, and the pet fee was actually higher than many nicer places I’ve stayed. The interior decor was cute, the paint was bright, but it was patchy from repairs that didn’t match. There was visible dirt in the corners. The walls were paper-thin and you could hear everything from surrounding rooms and things happening outside. In my opinion, they gave the place a retro-inspired facelift instead of the renovation it really needs. Oh, and there are no room keys, just a four digit code to get into the room. And the door won’t lock unless you remember to lock it from the inside before you walk out. It’s just not a place I would ever stay again as a well-traveled adult who has a certain expectation of comfort and safety. The restaurant next door had really good sourdough pancakes, though.

I absolutely loved this place as soon as I checked in … which was a bit early, but by the time the clerk and I talked and laughed over “remember when” before there were seat belts and safe child seats, it was pretty much on time. Then I got in my room. I was thrown back to my childhood. The 50’s decor was AMAZING!! Everything was clean, the room and bed were comfortable, plus, my room had a great view of the Astoria Bridge. I definitely recommend this place with its quirky ambiance. If I’m ever in Astoria again, I will consider no where else.

Love this place, the retro room style, location close to everything, friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again.

Check in was super easy and personable. Loved the throw back theme of the place. Great place to stay for sure.
