Positive:
It was a lovely renovated granny-annexe. The accomodation itself was pristine, and the coffee, cookies, milk and cafatiere were nice touches
Negative:
I couldn't find the accommodation. the daughter phoned and gave me a postcode which took me to the other side of the road, to the bemusement of the neighbours whose drive I went up. It does not say cartwheel cottage on the drive, it says SMITH cottage, and should be advertised as that. When I did find it, John told me I couldn't take the car right to the cottage as he needed it for the landrover. He said I had to move the car - I gave him the key as I unloaded and Marion helped me round with my bags.
I was then alerted to the SEVEN DOGS!!!!! IF I HAD KNOWN THIS I WOULD NOT HAVE BOOKED. I had to say I was OK with them, what else could I do? I made a point of getting John to introduce me to them, he said to be careful of the disagreeable one.
All the rooms are overlooked and there are no nets, only blinds.
I thought of using the garden twice, one time six dogs were scampering and the "disagreeable" dog barked and I decided not to risk it. Another time I braved it to the end (the dogs in their cages) but came back down with a stick.
There were no books or maps of the local area, just a James Herriot one; no information on walks using the footpath over the fence! I was told by someone that there were Neolithic sites nearby, and found them on a Website, but John showed little interest. I found a long-barrow and tumuli on my last day.
Summary: It's SMITH cottage, and only book it if you like being outnumbered by SEVEN DOGS, some disagreeable.

Positive:
The cottage was clean cosy and welcoming with milk in the fridge and a bottle of wine. The bed is so comfy and bathroom with walk in shower excellent. Our stay was for while we had bathroom alterations at home. Everyone was so welcoming and understanding to our situation. We were lucky (!) enough to have snow which made everything look idyllic. Cannot praise the whole family enough. Thank you so much Jules John and Marion.

Positive:
Situated in a very quiet and small village in amongst beautiful country side of undulating grassland, agricultural land and managed woodland. Very well equipped kitchen and comfortable bed.
Negative:
Wifi not available during stay (didn't raise with the hosts as this wasn't much of an issue for me, but sure it could have been resolved if required)
Summary: Peaceful retreat with lots of walking opportunities in a varied landscape

Positive:
Smiths Cottage was comfortable, clean, peaceful, and had easy parking. The owners were very helpful and friendly, and their four-legged family an added bonus!
I queried whether there was a microwave or not, before arrival, as different websites had different information on this. There wasnt, but they put one in for my stay.
For people with limited mobility but not wheelchair users, there is one small step up into the cottage, which I found perfectly manageable with M.E/CFS. There is a short walk from the car parking area to the cottage, but on one level.
Wifi was non-existent within the property during my stay, but I believe there would have been reception from the front of the house had I tried that.
However the EE network and data was perfectly sufficient, and I managed to tether my iPad to my phone for those times when I wanted to check local online maps, opening times of places, etc.
Nothing else mattered while on holiday.
I would happily return.
Negative:
Nothing not to like!
Summary: Peaceful, comfortable, friendly, and easy access
