“I was really pleasantly supervised by this place. The room was pleasant and the town/village was interesting. The food coming out of the kitchen was superb. Great pub grub in the evening, and fantastic breakfast in the morning. The only reason I didn't give the place 5 stars was the service on check in, in the diner and on check out, which was a little flat. Other than that I recommend that you check out this little gem of a place if passing. Great value.”

“The parking is behind the hotel and room key card will open the gate. Staff were great, very helpful. Breakfast starts at 0800 on weekdays. We explained on our last day that we would be leaving the hotel at 0720 but there was no offer to take away a bag with items for the journey. The room was nice, bed a little small to what we are used to and the shower was amazing. The TV was small but we used iPads to watch what we wanted. Overall a good hotel and we would stay again when in Ireland.”

“Castle Varagh Hotel is excellent for the price. The facilities are great and the staff very friendly and helpful. The location is peaceful a little bit of a distance from public transport and train, but hey it’s Castle Pollard!!”

“My only issue is that having a room facing ‘the square’ I was woken around 5am by the traffic. They know that the light is ridiculously slow and joke about on a notice in the lift. Good breakfast”

“Hotel is very well maintained, clean and furnished to a high standard. My room was spotless, quiet and the bed very comfortable - I slept well. I ate dinner there (steak and Guinness pie was great) and breakfast was perfect. I will be back next time I’m working in that area.”

The famously slow lift (!) wasn't available when we left, but a staff member helpfully guided round the convoluted route to the stairs (lucky we didn't need to find it alone and in a hurry). The food in the restaurant was good, although we didn't try the breakfast. Overall a nice hotel with helpful staff”

“Ferry from UK was 2 hours late so I arrived at the Hotel very late at night. Hotel Manager and Receptionist couldn’t do enough for me, including carrying my heavy bag up to the room as the Lift wasn’t working! Great night’s sleep in a lovely room and a great breakfast set me up for my stay. I can recommend the Castle Varagh Hotel to anyone wanting to visit the area.”
