Positive:
This was my second time staying at Central Hôtel & my experience was all the more enjoyable for its being summer instead of November, much as I love enchanting Cerbère in all its seasons. I adored the A/C & being able to regulate it just as I had liked being able to adjust the heat the previous fall. As before, the staff could not have been more friendly & helpful, one of the many reasons I booked there again. The hotel's location is ideal, set back on a tree-lined front courtyard on a charming residential street but steps from the shops of the village center and the heart of the village in summer: its beautiful beach! Another lively local gathering place in beach weather is the village square just a minute up the street from HC. I very much enjoyed the food & the service at the square's excellent indoor/outdoor restaurant & café. For its truly central location Central Hôtel is amazingly free of street noise. And the stately building being of sturdy old construction also ensures that from within its rooms are protected from room-to-room & hall sounds. The bed was just as comfortable as my last visit! This time in the warmer weather I enjoyed sitting outside in their lovely tree-shaded rear courtyard to eat my delicious well-priced breakfast (offering lots of healthy options!) and savor my cups of HC's heavenly coffee. My room as before contained plenty of towels, coffee and tea makings, a large flat-screen TV and an entire wall of closet and shelf space much appreciated by travellers living out of a suitcase. When I made a special request for a cab to Banyls-Sur-Mer the morning I was leaving, the very congenial staff did one better & introduced me to a very nice couple, regular guests of the hotel for years, also just finishing breakfast, who were driving right through Banyls on route home.
Negative:
I can't think of anything negative at all about Central Hôtel. I love it there!
Summary: Good value stopover before the night train
