Chapter House | House in Yarmouth Port

The Chapter House is an absolutely charming Inn with a rich history and period elegance. Our experience began with some very attentive and inviting attention from Bill, who was the manager at check-in. He had already communicated that our room was ready and he immediately made us feel at home. He took us personally to our room, which was in the Carriage House and it was cozy and completely charming with a sumptuous King bed......great sleep! What is really charming about the Chapter House are the grounds, which include a large golf-green like lawn and patio deck with ample seating and places to relax. And lastly, a six-seater bar with great drink menu and nosh, and Bill bakes the most amazing chocolate croissants! Fabulous stay and we can't wait to go back!

Unfortunately our stay could have been so much better with attention to a few details. Upon arriving there was no one to check us in or instructions. We had to roam the grounds looking for help and finally called and left a message. One evening we asked for some ice - again having to call. Eventually we received some ice in a plastic bag, not an ice bucket or bowl! Very thoughtless. Also it would be nice if you offered separate hot water for tea. Tea tasting like coffee is unpleasant. The property grounds are very pretty and more attention to basic details would have made for a wonderful stay.

On the postive side, the interior of the Inn is very pretty and well maintained. We were given an early check-in, which was much appreciated. Our room in the Carriage House was clean and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the patio out back each night of our 3 night stay. The Old Yarmouth Inn and Leonessa were both wonderful restaurants less than 1 mile from the Inn. On the negative side, although 2 reviews featured on the Inn's website rave about the breakfast, breakfast is no longer served. We did not get the room we booked. Our room was extremely small, with bunk beds, instead of a sofa, no night table on one side, and wires from the tv and AC hanging across the wall. The smoke detector went off from the steam every time we showered. The exterior of the property and landscaping is in need of much TLC. Although we could have reached the host by text if we needed something, we did not see them after check-in, nor did they reach out during our 3 night stay.

This property was clean and well maintained. There was ample parking and the staff was very friendly.

This is simply a really old house. It’s clean and charming but it’s old and poorly maintained and interior decor is weak.

The room was very nice and the beds were comfortable. The building is very old so there were some issues with noisy window air conditioners and leaky plumbing, but if you like historic buildings this one is lovely. They seem to be struggling to maintain all the grounds which are extensive. The staff were extremely nice which made the stay much more pleasant. The location was excellent, although leaving the parking lot was a little frightening due to low visibility and crazy Massachusetts drivers. I would recommend this to anyone who likes historic buildings and expansive grounds with lovely flowers. If you are looking for the latest amenities this is not for you.

The property was absolutely stunning. We also had a problem with the shower and having hot water and they immediately accommodated us by putting us in the main house. Wonderful stay!

Expensive for what you got. They don’t serve breakfast anymore. It was okay but priced too high.
