We have been staying @ Can Cruanyes for a few years now to escape for a picturesque and peaceful weekend break. Apartments are fully equipped. ..great grounds and surrounding scenery...Donny and family really make an effort in making the whole experience memorable and we always want to stay longer! ...Full marks in location, quality of furnishings and accommodation and effort. Pets allowed is a huge bonus for us!

A++ Donny makes for a friendly welcoming host. Our apartment was clean and well equipped. Great facilities and large grounds. Would highly recommend for a Spanish getaway. Wonderful hiking area with the beautiful wild mountains as your backdrop. Peaceful retreat away from all hussle but with easy access to local villages and towns. Our little boy loved it! Thank you.

We loved and our stay here, and will definitely return, The property itself sits comfortably on the mountain, retaining much of its rustic charm, we found it idyllic, with much to do locally or further afield, we ran out of time, a week just wasn't long enough, I can't speak highly enough of Donny, he made us feel so welcome from the outset ,despite arriving at gone 2.30 in the morning! Throughout the week , nothing was too much trouble and we left feeling we had new friends in Spain, It's the perfect place to sit and chill out, enjoying the pool , or to explore , there are some hidden gems and stunning scenery all around the immediate area, local shops are only a few minutes by car. A wonderful, relaxing, peaceful place to spend a holiday. Plenty to do locally, walking etc, Besalu is a nice place to stroll around. The coast or the French border are within an hour, but we spent quite a bit of time staying around the apartment. We were there in the height of summer and the apartment stayed pretty cool. A couple of mountain bikes were available which kept our lads entertained. We'd certainly consider coming again.

We found Can Cruyanes to be ideal for our needs. We all loved the pool and open grounds. The accommodation - Holly - was clean and well equipped. The setting is stunning and contributed greatly to a relaxed stay. We also found Can Cruyanes very handily located for visits to Gerona, the volcano area around Olot and the beaches of the Costa Brava. We would recommend Can Cruyanes and hope to stay again. We arrived to be welcomed warmly by Donny, who is a charming and friendly guy. He and his wife Sibhan have created a great mountain retreat in the ideal location to explore the Pyrennees and surrounding countryside. The area is fantastic for walking and cycling (if you are pretty fit!), but is equally beautiful to explore by car. We also made a trip to the coast and found a delightful (uncommercial) beach, as advised in the house's file of useful information. It took us well under an hour to get there on very easy speedy roads. Also, the local medieval towns and villages offer great places to eat, drink and explore. We stayed in 'Holly' - my husband and I with our 12 year old son. It was very comfortable for the three of us. The beds were comfortable and the house was well kitted out with everything we needed for our 5 night stay. I would suggest if you can, stop en route at the Spar Supermarket in Besalu to get provisions. We enjoyed time on the terrace each evening with a bottle of wine, which does get some sun through the day, and could just see the beautiful mountains from the very slightly over enclosed small terrace (I do understand why the fence has been put up, to give more privacy). We spent a good deal of time by the pool, which is a beautiful place to sit and take a dip in what was apparently unusually hot weather at over 37 degrees c. The location is perfect to visit many point of interest (Garotxa Volcanic Zone, Olot, Besalu, Figueres/Cadaqués, etc.) The Catalan farmhouse is really charming and the appartment is well-maintained and very functionnal with lots of equipment for cooking. The large swimming pool is clean and there is a lot of space for kids to play outside. Our host Donny spent time with us to provide precious advices for visiting the area. We would not hesitate recommending this place to anyone!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Can Cruanyes, in a beautiful setting with the Pyrenees to look out on when we sat out for meals. Everything we needed was there. The weather was extremely hot during our week and there is no air conditioning, but Donny provided fans, so it was fine. The good size pool was very welcome! Donny was extremely helpful whenever we asked anything and there was a lot of useful information about the area in the property. It was quite hot to do much sight-seeing, but there were some beautiful surrounding villages and towns which we enjoyed visiting. The kids also enjoyed doing some cycling with the mountain bikes provided. Many thanks, Donny, we hope to return one day!

The property appears quite suddenly at the end of a rough track and is really attractive, as the pictures suggest. We were made to feel really welcome by both Donny and Siobhan, the owners, although their presence during the week could not have been less obtrusive - they were marvellous and responded to questions regarding the area really positively and with a keen desire to help. Lovely little personal touches, such as the fresh ivy leaves decorating our towels and wild flowers left in little pots, added to the charm of the apartment. Very clean and simply furnished, the 2-bed apartment met our family's needs perfectly. The good-sized pool is set to the side of a beautiful lawned meadow area, where we played football and table tennis, as well as just having space to run around. Peaceful and quiet - the Pyrenees form an awesome backdrop to the immediate surroundings. The local village (Tortella) is quaint and great for meat, bread and cheap vino! Only a short hop to Figueres and Orlot, which are both lovely towns to spend some time. Definitely recommended and we shall return!

We spent a lovely fortnight in this cosy farmhouse, where we quite immediately felt at ease. The spaciousness of the property, combined with the tranquility of the location, made us feel 'coming home' after the various day trips we did. Can Cruanyes, situated a little bit off road, on the slopes of a mountain, in the woods, was the perfect starting point for our excursions (hiking into the mountains, visiting medieval villages and larger city's the North East of Catalonia). We also enjoyed nearby Tortella, with it's down to earth daily life (market place, bakery, butcher, cafe's, ...) or just staying 'at home' and having a chat with the other guests, make use of the swimming pool, the BBQ or the large lawns to play soccer, (table-)tennis or petanque. The owners, Donny and Siobhan, are very kind and ready to give you some touristic advise or fix some small problems in your appartement. We certainly go back. We still have a lot to see and to 'experience'.
