“Although the property is not exactly updated, it was incredibly clean and the staff were so friendly and helpful. It’s located right in front of the beginners lift and was close proximity to the ski school and shuttle pick up. I would definitely stay here again in the future. ”

“Close access to the ski slopes. Property and room is a little rundown and old compared to as advertised. Hot water was not working but staff accommodated me to another room. Room has poor noise isolation so you can hear your neighbors. Toilet seat lid does not stay up! Friendly and helpful staff nevertheless.”

“I LOVE HAKUBA SUN VALLEY HOTEL.
From the second Kinoshita-san picked us up, the staff and management was not only attentive but extremely helpful and mindful of our needs. Next time I come to hakuba I will 200% be staying here again!

“Friendly and helpful staff but not around as much as I would like. The rooms are quite outdated and bathroom was not great. Toilet was running loud for a while after flushing but understood the facilities are not up to date . The room was quite cold and not enough blankets. Beds are old and room is small but it was expected. ”

“Hotel was fantastic - location is ideal for snow access with one lift across the road (10 metres) and another two within a short walk. The runs at the resort at perfect for early beginners, but easily connect to the gondola for more experienced riders.
Location is too far from restaurants to walk, a shuttle or taxi is required. We didn't mind, the food at the hotel was great and we preferred the excellent snow access.
Staff were really helpful, picking us up from Hakuba Goryu and dropping us off on the way out.
The food was really good - a few rotating buffets for breakfast including different types of eggs (scrambled, poached, boiled, omelette) and sides like bacon or pork or sausages.
Dinner was wonderful each night - something different and Japanese plated for us along with a buffet selection or sides.
Bathroom was small but serviceable, room size was otherwise good.
I read some of the really negative reviews before coming and it made me incorrectly worried about the hotel - we had a great experience and I don't understand those reviewers at all. This was a great lodge like experience right on the snow.”

“Room was functional but very tired/worn. A lot of smelly kerosene heaters to keep things warm, which was not great. I'm 6t'3" and couldn't shower in the tiny bathroom. There is a small functional onsen downstairs, opens at 16:00 but not really warm until about 17:00 o so. Breakfast is functional but pretty plain; not a lot of variety day to day. The family that runs it is LOVELY and very accommodating, I can't praise them enough for the service, but I'd call this a two star property at best. ”

“Very accommodating and family run. Daily meals were fantastic. Rooms and especially the lobby areas need a bit of an upgrade. Great location to the lift though.”

“We had a wonderful stay. The staff were absolutely delightful and went out of their way to accommodate any requests including the dietary requirements of one person in our group. We were on the breakfast and dinner meal package and the options each day were fantastic, with a vast selection of European and Japanese options.
One thing to note is that the hotel isn’t located in a town centre. Instead, it’s directly opposite a beginner lift in the Imori area, giving easy access to the slopes.
The hotel itself is fairly basic, but it’s very clean and the staff more than make up for it with their warmth and helpfulness. There are free hot drinks in the foyer, an onsen, washing/drying facilities and the hotel will provide free transfers to train/bus station (or even to Lawsons/711 if you need supplies!) There’s also a games room with a pool table and table tennis.
If you’re looking for nightlife, this probably isn’t the spot for you; but for a relaxed, comfortable tradtitonal Japanese ski stay, we couldn’t fault it.”
