Hotel Amba Reviews
“I would describe this as a budget hotel, but having said that it suited our needs very well. The location of the hotel was excellent for us, being in reasonable walking distance to both the centre of the city and to the Oktoberfest site. Also the hotel was very close to the railway station and even closer to the Lufthansa Express coach service stop from the airport, which was only about 25 yards from the front door of the hotel. The Lufthansa Express was excellent, costing only 13.50 Euros per person. We got quotes from two taxis at the airport; one of which was 96 Euros (" More if we wanted to go on the meter") and 106 Euros for the second, both of which we declined Apparently taxis are more expensive during Oktoberfest, which this was. The breakfasts at the hotel looked good compared with what was available elsewhere. There was shower gel in the room, but unfortunately no coffee/tea making facilities. Our room was clean and a reasonable size for us (3 adults). Quite a good wardrobe and a safe. The shower was a bit temperamental, but was adequate.”
“If you want a good location then this place is ideal as it a minutes walk from the railway station. However there are much nicer hotels nearby. The front desk staff can barely speak to you never mind give a smile. The room is really basic and small, no tea or coffee, if you are over 5 10” tall you will have to place your knees against the bathroom door when sat on the toilet. The shower is poor and leaks everywhere. We received an e-mail from the hotel to say they hoped we enjoyed the complimentary tea and coffee! There wasn’t any! If your are the front of the hotel it is very noisy from the road, you can shut the window but the room is very warm with no fan and the grumpy male receptionist said they didn’t have any more fans. This place is fine if you are just looking at spending a few hours to sleep for Oktoberfest but it is very basic.”
“Hotel Amba is a brilliantly located hotel for Oktoberfest and central Munich. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Due to it's location directly opposite Munich central station, it can be quite a noisy neighbourhood, but overall it was a good spot for my visit.”
