Hotel Laxarbakki | Apartment in Hvalfjarðarsveit

The hotel was perfectly situated in the mountains and gave a stunning view of the landscape. The family apartment was clean, spacious, and nicely renovated to allow for all the amenities we could need including a full kitchen with an oven, stove, microwave, and full-sized fridge. We also used the washer/dryer every single day and went home with all clean clothes. The owners were kind and accommodating - even in a crazy storm, they came by to check on us and see if we needed anything! Food at the hotel restaurant was delicious, too. We will definitely be returning. 10/10!

Clean, comfortable room, with excellent view to north. Was able to see northern lights all three nights from the comfort of room while temperatures outside were -15 degrees c windchills. Great location if hunting for northern lights. Kitchen had utincils for two of us.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel during our visit to Iceland. We stayed in their cottage, and everything about the experience was perfect from start to finish. The cottage was cozy, comfortable, and a wonderful place to relax after a day of exploring. The owners were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed, which made our stay even more special. The location is also ideal - peaceful and perfectly situated for spotting the incredible Northern Lights. We were lucky enough to see them, and it was truly unforgettable. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Iceland!

Great room and amenities. Helpful staff.

We stayed one night at this hotel, the hotel is family run & is staffed. They have a hot tub & sauna available as well. The rooms are quiet, clean & cozy. Nothing super amazing about this hotel but decent. The views are pretty good from here as a river runs beside & they have a nice fountain out front. They didn't shovel the snow until much later in the day. Ample parking here for free.

Lovely staff. We really just needed a place to stay for the evening while traveling around the country. Location was easy to access for us.

Beautiful, and breathtaking scenery

Staff is very helpful. The breakfast is fresh and delicious. There is also sauna and hot spring facilities which we can enjoy a lot!

We got what we expected

After a long day travel, we arrived early at 3 o’clock, and we’re very disappointed that we could not even sit in a lobby. Accommodations Work great and the staff were very helpful. We were hoping to leave early to start the golden ring circle before the crowds however, breakfast does not start until 8 o’clock, which is a little late for trying to get an early start..
