Hotel Shion | House in Morioka, Iwate

“Booked it as a place to relax and enjoy. It was a 20 min drive from the morioka station. The place was next to a river and was nice and peaceful. The hotel had 2 onsens - one on the 2nd (larger) and the 3rd. Visited the smaller one on the 3rd which also has an outdoor option, which was nice and peaceful at night. The family room on the top floor had marvellous views of the river and mountains. Rooms were clean and spacious. Futons were prepared when you go for dinner. Kaisekei dinner was excellent as well with different menus every day for our 4 day stay. Breakfast was the same everyday, but the variety was large enough. There were special activities at the hotel every night for about 2 months which were quite memorable. It the special mention must be for the staff. They are really affable and helpful and remember all the small details, like when you have food preferences (wife could not eat raw food), when your last day - and these were servers at the meal times.. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend for a place to just relax and chill”

“ One of the baths was shut down unexpectedly for repairs. They drove us to a connected hotel so we could use that facility.”

“The staff were incredibly accommodating (to be fair everyone in Morioka was exceptionally hospitable). The hotel was awesome, onsen was amazing and the food absolutely delicious (both dinner and breakfast). ”

“Lovely hotel, excellent staff, great dinner and breakfast. I love the onsen experience. We stayed multiple nights so we can try all the baths. There is a walking path along the lake. We took the hotel shuttle bus to Morioka to explore and took the local bus back. Very convenient and easy to navigate. ”

“It was a large facility with a beautiful view of the lake. The view was even better due to the leaves changing colour. The hot springs baths were wonderful. The meals were spectacular as well.”
