A hidden Gem
Thank you to the wonderful team at Ocean Villa Heights. This hotel is truly a hidden gem, as a frequent traveller it is rare to find a hotel that is small and friendly but still offers great service. The food was fabulous with a substantial varied breakfast with home made cakes and cooked breakfast alongside the usual buffet style seen at most hotels The chefs have mastered the art of combining African and European cuisine and the food was so good that I had to invite my friends along to try it for themselves The hotel is spotless with all of the facilities you need for a relaxed and comfortable stay. Just down from the hotel is a pristine beach a real beach bums paradise with a variety of bars (I still have many to explore!) But the best and most important things to mention is the staff, nothing was too much trouble and too many names to mention but their professional attitude and the warm welcome that they gave me has made sure that I will be returning to Ocean Villa Heights very soon

Overall, I really liked it. :)
The pool is very clean
Very close to the beach !
You can see ocean from the garden and from balcony. And feel the breeze and relaxing sound.
They have very good cook!
The kitchen prepared tasty omelets and very good dinner and lunch . And the hotel offered options to customize the breakfast to suit larger groups.
Few minor issues, which the staff corrected as soon as I brought them to their attention.
Negative:
Breakfast is subjective, as everyone likes different things. I would have liked more fresh fruit and any vegetables. Or perhaps drinking water. From my perspective, it would have been nice if Gambian products were available instead of Turkish ones (like honey, peanut butter, and jam) to support the country
I would have paid more attention to the bedding, which wasn't completely dry and smelled slightly musty (but I have a very good sense of smell). Also, the cabinets and refrigerator were cleaned thoroughly. I don't take this negatively. It's all a form of communication and a learning process. :)
Summary: I will definitely come back and recommend this place to others:)

Quiet and secluded.
Small hotel, great service.
It is a little old, but newly painted and clean.
AC and hot shower worked perfect.
Beach approximity is great. Fun, BIG waves. You don’t swim but tumble (not for small children). Hardly any people at the beach or at the hotel’s pool which is also kept very clean. But plenty of beach bars/cafes. And beautiful sunsets.
Hardly any bugs, but there is also no humidity as such in February. We enjoyed the balcony with ocean view during siestas.
Paula, Bibi and the rest of the staff were so kind and helpful with tours, use of paypal and late check out. Despite the small size of the hotel, the kitchen was open all day till 9 pm, with a rather large menu card.
It is not 5 European standard stars, but definitely 5 African stars. I loved our stay and highly recommend it to anyone.
Negative:
It is a bit far from main street with ATMs (which may not work anyway) and super markets (approx 1 km). Other shopping is even further away. We liked the hazzle free holiday and didn’t come for the shopping, so to us it wasn’t important.
The hall way is very big and does not absorb the sound of occasional slamming doors. Because of the little number of rooms this was not a problem to us.

Everyone was very helpful and friendly. A nice relaxed stay.
The food was very good and I enjoyed traditional Gambian food cooked fresh.
When I needed help finding the right cash point I was taken care of and was helped with a lift to the cash point. Thank you.
When I left I was offered help if I needed to while staying in the country.
It is a wonderful family atmosphere and a caring place to stay I would definitely stay again.
