Off-grid Masterpiece Cabin W/Breathtaking View | Cabin in Central City, Colorado

“STUNNING Mountain Views! Very clean house. My husband built our house and we were both impressed with the construction. Drove our Ford Edge and we made it, but the roads to it are something else. If it’s a rainy/snowy time you’d be wise to have 4WD. Be prepared to climb up and down the steep steps to the bedroom. (More doable than anticipated.) Brought our own washcloths and extra blankets as we learned from previous reviews. We rode the Argo gondola in Idaho Springs and were pleasantly surprised that the views from our rental were better!”

“This place does have stunning views and is a very creative build. While it was great for my husband and I, I do want to warn that there are very steep ladders to the two bedrooms that have King beds. This doesn't seem like the right place for an older couple or kids. There is not a King bed downstairs nor are the two queen beds up in the loft. Just FYI. At the time of my listing, it said there was a king bed and show a pic of the room downstairs. The bathroom was small but didi great- there are no washcloths or hairdryer- but plenty of towels! It did list laundry service but there was no washing machine- must have been a mistake because when I inquired about it, the owner was a litter perplexed that it said that. Checking in was a little confusing, you enter through a "vestibule" where we hung our coats- so don't leave anything valuable there because those doors don't lock. The locks are on the door to the left where the kitchen and TV and loft are and the other side is another room that locks. There is no dishwasher- which is fine too- but the place has very limited space. I know it sleeps 6 but I don't know how you would fit 6 people at the table because there are only two chairs and there is a love seat sofa. Internet was pretty good so my husband could work and the fire pit on the deck was a nice touch. The area is great- close to many of the small cities and easy to get to the grocery store in Idaho Springs. Good stay.”

“Mountain view is amazing. Host was very responsive. Like most other reviews of this property, a high clearance vehicle is best for reaching the cabin and recommend checking in during daylight. Highly recommend and would most definitely stay again. ”

“We were there for a wedding in Idaho Springs and it worked out perfectly. Being an architect I appreciated the overall design thoughtfulness and layout! Loved how it is truly off the beaten path but was still with. 30 minutes of anything we needed to do. ”

“Stay was wonderful! Beautiful views! Recommend driving the first time there in the daylight, just to get familiar with the roads. Steps to master loft are steep. No laundry wasn’t the biggest downfall. But the sunset was a site to see! And very secluded, loved the privacy! Great stay!”

“The view was AMAZING! Nothing better than watching the sun set over the mountains. The actual cabin was rather small and chopped up into 2 separate areas. The master bed is up a steep ladder in the loft. The kitchen/living room were very small. Very little counter space. Had a “bar island” as the only eating area but only had 2 stools. Only had a small couch to sit on so all 4 of us couldn’t even hang out in the living room together. 1 very thin blanket to use on the couch, so bring your own if you want to feel cozy. The other 2 bedrooms were in a separate area that’s only connected via the “breezeway.” Not much decor on any of the walls. No washer/Dryer so be prepared to have enough clothes to last your whole visit. Would definitely recommend a 4x4/AWD vehicle. We were there in the summer and it rained a lot so the dirt road was somewhat washed away and steep to pull up to the cabin. ”

“We had a wonderful vacation. Few things for future renters. There is no washer and dryer. Bring adequate clothing as you cannot wash clothes. There is not ice maker so if your wanting ice you will need to buy some.The property is beautiful and the view is amazing. ”

“The cabin is rurally located in the mountains above Idaho Springs and Central City. We had easy access to both towns, attended a concert at Red Rocks and made day trips to Golden Gate State Park, Nederland, Boulder, Golden and Estes Park. If you don’t want to travel, the property itself is fun to explore with old mine sites both up the mountain and down the road. If you’re looking for remote, quiet and beautiful views, this is a great location.A few things to note. The cabin doesn’t have a washer/dryer, dishwasher, tea kettle or hairdryer. Also, there are no mixing bowls, storage containers, or large drinking glasses. If there are more than two people staying, I’d also recommend bringing plates, silverware and extra dish towels (only one provided). If you’re a person who uses a washcloth, you’ll want to bring your own, as none are provided.The king bed is in a loft that’s accessible by ladder like steps. If you have balance or mobility concerns, or are a person who gets up frequently at night, this might not be the best place for you. My husband and I found the king bed collapsed on one side and lumpy. We moved to the queen bed on the ground floor. Also, there are no extra blankets, so if you run cold, I’d bring an extra blanket.There is a loveseat in the living room and no other seating in the space other than the two chairs at the dining table. The loveseat was broken with an exposed bolt and the arm detaching. Loved the location, but needs some TLC.”

“Photos of the view from the cabin do not capture the true beauty of the in-person view! The location of this place is perfect! Very private and quiet. We saw eagles circling the sky, moose in the pastures, and deer in the backyard. We aren't avid outdoors people (the wifi worked great, the place was heated, the water was treated and hot, and we cooked our own meals, so we had no reason to venture out), but the views of the snowcapped mountains tempted us so we made our way over to St Mary's Glacier. We were ill prepared for the hike and didn't make it far, but the view was breathtaking! The entire stay was excellent; off grid living with modern amenities. Travel tip: the last 1.6 miles of road up to the cabin is unpaved and the driveway is very steep and rocky. There was no snow or rain during our stay but we felt much better knowing we chose a 4x4 vehicle for the drive.”
