Opera d'Oro Reviews

Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Our stay in this rustic cottage in a tiny village of just 64 residents near the Umbria-Tuscany border was nothing short of extraordinary. We were welcomed not as guests but as family—a heartwarming experience for us, coming from Eastern Europe. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel at home, greeting us with fresh bread, cookies, water, and coca cola in the fridge—a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the rest of our stay. The cottage itself was filled with artistic touches, with some charming paintings by Michaela, one of the hosts. From the stone floors to the wooden cabinets and stone sink, every detail was thoughtfully designed. The mezzanine bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a large dining table and ample space for our belongings. Outside, we had access to a vast field where we spent many nights stargazing. The darkness of the night made the stars shine brilliantly, though outdoor lights were available if needed. Even if we hadn’t ventured out for day trips, staying in this cottage alone would have made for an unforgettable holiday. But there was so much more to explore. The surrounding landscape was ideal for cycling, with breathtaking views, visits to local wineries, and trips to nearby towns like Assisi, Perugia, Deruta, Florence, and beautiful lakes. I feel like we barely scratched the surface of what this area has to offer. Our hosts made this experience truly special. On our first day, when they heard we were planning to cycle to a nearby museum, the husband offered to drive there first to check if the road was clear—a small act of kindness that meant so much. Another evening, they took us to their favorite spot on a nearby hill to watch the sunset, bringing blankets and wine as they shared stories about the region’s history. Later, they guided us through a forest trail they’re preparing for guests, where the husband taught us about the local trees and the import
Summary: A Magical Stay in Umbria

Positive: The place is a very central place in location Oro in Tavernelle where there are all important facilities like a good bakery, patisserie and restaurant and mini markets. It is also very near to lake Trasimeno and many beautiful Umbrian and south of Tuscany towns and villages (borghi) all reachable within an hour's drive. Perugia and Assisi are also reachable by car. The hosts Michela and Paulo live nearby and were also available to help us with any required facilities during our stay. They even gave us daily recommendations for places to visit so that we could enjoy the best of Umbria and south Tuscany. This family is a true ambassador for the Umbria region as they love the countryside and the mountains of Umbria. The family house is a small farmhouse which has all one requires to stay comfortable during a stay even for a good number of nights including air-conditioning and a fire-place for winter. I would recommend this lodging for short or long stays and for families and couples. The hosts will make sure that you make your most from this stay.
Negative: Nothing in particular
Summary: Family friendly lodging in the middle of the Umbrian countryside and Trasimeno lake.
