“Great price for a beautiful little condo. Only stayed one night while passing through. The room was large, clean, had more than what we needed included with the stay. The view from the balcony was gorgeous.”

“The property sits right on Superior and as advertised my room had a (partial) view of the lake. Walking distance to Superior National golf course (which is phenomenal) and a short drive to food/general store/gas station and a nice winery/bar. My room was spacious, clean, and had an excellent deck looking out on the lake. However, my unit sat behind at an angle to another unit, and trees blocked the remainder of the view. The advertisement shows almost all rooms with an unobstructed view of the lake below but that is not true. Some have virtually no view. The problem is that visitors don't receive their individual room and code until 2 hours before the firm 4pm check in time. Like a hotel, you have no way of knowing which unit you'll get and if you'll have a 90% view or 10% view. Buyer beware. Personally, I cannot recommend Poplar River Condos for one reason: my electric fireplace was inoperable. Since I was only planning on using it the first night/morning of my 2-day stay, it was useless notifying them of the maintenance issue because I didn't discover it until 9pm. All I got was a canned apology and their admin telling me it was basically my fault for not telling them soon enough. As if it's the guest's responsibility to go around checking everything to make sure it works the second you check in. Other than that huge con, I still probably wouldn't stay here again due to the 20 minute drive into Grand Marais. Night driving is very dark.”
