Real de Chapala Reviews
Reviewer Type: Solo Traveller
Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: The staff was really accomodating and they helped with all our concerns. The room was spacious including the shower; we had one that was facing the lake. The facilities are a bit older, the jacuzzi and pool but it did work and was cleaned daily. The location was further from the malecon but not inconvenient to where you can't easily go to for dinner/food. It is a place where its best to have your own vehicle and they had free parking for it.
Summary: Great value for the space

Positive:
Location is OK, nice view of the lake although not that easy to reach. Property is quiet, we had a good night rest. Prices at the bar are very reasonable.
Negative:
They have a mosquito PLAGUE at the hotel. Litterally hundreds of thousands of mosquitos swarming all open areas, especially at night. The hotel looks very outdated. If you're a frequent traveller you will surely be dissapointed by the facilities. We paid 150USD per night, and all it included is the use of the beds. The pool area looks very cheap with their plastic beds and chairs, and the pool water was very cold, even for the kids. Stayed here just to take a one-night rest while travelling elsewhere, so wasnt expecting much. But wouldn't stay there more than 1 night.
Summary: Somewhat overpriced for an outdated hotel struggling with a major mosquito plague.
