Stayokay Utrecht Centrum - Hostel | Hostel in Neude Janskerkhof en Domplein

It’s an ok place to stay if you don’t have high expectations or need a lot of comfort. However, the days I spent in Utrecht were some of the hottest of the summer with temperatures up towards 40 degrees Celsius. The rooms have no AC and therefore I found my stay rather unpleasant. The staff apologised, and of course they are not to blame, but still, with the weather being the way it is and summers getting hotter and hotter, I found it strange that the hostel has not invested in some sort of ventilation, fans or AC. There is some sort of ventilation in the rooms but I had a feeling it was switched off during the night… Would not stay again, especially during a heatwave.

We enjoyed the stay, specifically because of how helpful the staff were. My friend even left her passport in the room after we checked out and the staff were willing to overnight ship it to our next location. They were communicative and helpful. It’s in a good central area and walkable to the Domtower The downside is that it did get noisy but usually people settled down around 11:00. We even heard families in the hallway. However, we mostly saw college students. Our room was on the backside of the building so we didn’t get the loudness from the streets which was nice.

Small room, no extras like fridge and no water cooker. There was a bigger gathering place on the first floor but without fridge or water cooker or coffee maker. Quite sad. We were asked to take down the bed sheets and covers.

The room was a bit too basic but nice. During the night, however, the room has this buzzing sounds and also it is not sound proof from outside noise. The bathroom is clean. The location is very central. The restaurant is amazing. In general, the stay was okay.

Clean room and friendly staff. I liked that the property and rooms were environmentally conscious.

Amazing location right in the middle of everything yet completely quiet at night. No frill but comfortable size room with tall ceiling and huge windows with the view! Bring your own hair dryer though.

Great location but gets really loud on the weekends in the plaza it faces - tourists/students partying in the streets till 4am so make sure you take a pair of the free earplugs they hand out. Close to the canals the tower and a 10 minute walk to the station - everything you need. Front desk staff really nice and welcoming. The connecting 5th restaurant is a decent (if overpriced) spot.

Nice and affordable pkace in the center of Utrecht. Recommended.
