To get to your room you are shown to an outside wooden staircase with a turn in it to get to the 2nd floor. We had to walk the length of 4 or 5 rooms to get to a CATWALK connecting to the other building which housed ours and other rooms. I am not comfortable with heights and it was almost impossible to go up the staircase and then walk across a cat walk. The room was just OK. The toilet has a notice framed on the wall above it about having problems flushing. On the second day it did back-up. We found another inside staircase by going around the complex and entering via the restaruant. Why they could not tell us about that inside staircase is beyound me. The hand you a sheet of paper upon signing is that they check off multiple notices that you really don't get to read as they check the items off for you. One of which turns out that you agree not to expect cleanup service daily unless to ask for it. Therefore you are out of the room all day and come back to the dirty room including no clean towels. You make your own decision.

Very clean and staff super friendly! Didn't go in the bar/restaurant but it looked ok. Not a huge complaint, but the property is dated but so are a lot of places on the island. Would stay again:)

Basic motel at the beach. Could be super charming but corners are cut everywhere. Rooms are tight, amenities are non-existent and reception staff is literally clueless. Great location but that’s it. Not worth even half the nightly rate they charge. Disappointing.

Check in was super easy. Our room was clean. We were about four houses from the shore entrance. We have no complaints and look forward to returning next year.

Smelled moldy in room and called way ahead to alter dates and was told no to any modification to reservation! What a rip off for one night!

Nice place.Comfy room.Overall good stay. 3 things though, the bathroom did not smell that fresh even at the beginning. It didn't help that the fan and soap dish were broken. It also would be helpful to have more clear instructions on working the TV as not everyone has the same home set ups. Appreciated the smooth check in/out, and also the 10% off coupon for the pub.

The room was very clean, the beds & sheets were extremely comfortable and the location of the hotel was a quick walk to the beach (less than a football field). The beach itself was wide, and clean with lots of shells. A littlenchilly, but overall it was a nice trip and I would recommend staying at the Surf City Hotel. A heads up for people staying there (or somewhere on Long Beach Island) during off season: make sure you have (or get) dinner early. I was not aware that most restaurants & stores close at 9p and we scrambled for something to eat later in the evening. Nardi's Tavern saved the day (or night as the case may be) with a tasty pepperoni pizza! No complaints at all - just looking to share that information with others so they can plan ahead.

Bar and staff were epic!!!!!!
