The cleanliness was acceptable. The kitchen shelves are not clean. Some kitchen appliances were not in good shape. Host was nice in general but did not provide an ice tray when she said she would have someone stopping by. The curtain rail was broken so the curtain cannot be completely closed. The sliding door to the porch cannot be locked. The bathroom bathtub is old and not clean.

The host was so kind and responsive! She let us check in early because she knew we were traveling a long distance and would need to rest. Plenty of space and comfortable beds. Definitely recommend!

Overall it was a great stay and we would stay again! Parking really easy. Was easy to communicate with the host. Beds were comfortable! Location was great. The kitchen needed a deep clean but we just cleaned before we usedbthe dishes there.

The location as good, half way between the zoo and downtown Philly. The condo was very clean, quiet, and on-site parking which was a plus. Hala was very professional, responsive to all messages on the app. Would book again in the future.

Hala was very professional and kind. She was responsive to all messages in the app and on her phone. She was accommodating, we arrived to the property early and was willing to pay an early entry free and she allowed us to enter without any issues. The property and NO ISSUES. It was COZY. I’ve read some reviews BUT this isn’t your permanent home. This is extremely suitable for a stay! The neighborhood has been the best and safest I have stayed in the Philly area. I will only stay at The Blue Gem while in Philly. Thank you Hala

The Blue Gem provides lots of space for a couple and enough room for a small family. The unit is up one flight of stairs only steps from the parking lot. The main living space is large and comfortable with areas for the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Down the hall, you find a hall bathroom plus 2 bedrooms. The primary bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. There's also a balcony off the living room if you want to step outside.Overall, the apartment is nicely decorated. The mattresses in the primary bedroom are new memory-foam mattresses. There are some issues due to the fact that it is an older property. For example, the shower doors in the ensuite bathroom no longer have rollers to easily open and close. You have to lift them up, move them where you want them, and then lower them back onto the track. The washer and dryer are very old and positioned where you cannot easily access the control knob because of the folding door they're behind. They're also very low capacity, so plan on doing multiple loads compared to one in most modern machines.Even with these minor issues, the unit provides a nice place to stay when visiting the greater northeast Philadelphia area. We'd recommend The Blue Gem if you're heading to Elkins Park, PA.
