“Amazing room, or rather room! Very nicely done. It was kind of hard to find the car park, but I managed. Like the blurb says though, lots of steps to the hotel so be careful”

“The room was very good, clean, spacious. Thebreakfastwas outstanding. But these ice was best of all. The hostess was extremely helpful, and provided top notch, above and beyond service for us.”

“Our room (Roach 2) was spacious. There is no air-con but there was a good portable fan. Plenty of wardrobe space. The bed was huge and comfortable.
Bathroom was spacious, but the shower was above the bath and the bath is high. There really should be some grab rails to aid entering and exiting the shower safely. This would be an issue if guests had even mild mobility problems.
There are NO shelves at all in the bathroom - nowhere to place toiletries or wash bag. A small shelf would make all the difference. The mirror is big but there is no lighting above the sink. A lamp would again make a difference.
Breakfast was lovely - plentiful and hot. The breakfast room is spacious and nicely decorated. Bar service was also good and the coffees were nice.
We booked for 2 nights and were disappointed that our room was not serviced after the first night despite leaving the 'please make up room' sign on the door. We were late arriving back (after 10pm) and I had to go to reception to ask for fresh towels.
When checking out, we were asked if everything was ok and I mentioned that the room had not been serviced but to be honest, the receptionist only muttered that housekeeping would be informed to be more careful. No real apology.
There is a good sized car park but access from car park to hotel is quite challenging. Need better lighting at night too.
Summary - nice hotel with character. Small tweaks to bathroom would make a huge difference.”

“There is no lift, this is an old, old property but what it lacks in lifts it excels in character, charm and friendliness. The food is amazing and attracts people from across the local area, so make sure you book dinner. The cocktails are delicious and the atmosphere so friendly and buzzing for a small town. Parking is secure and there is a loading bay outside to drop off suitcases, don’t park up and then bring down your cases unless you are extremely spritely. The room was so clean and spacious with a bath and shower! The towels were even fluffy! We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel, the staff could not do enough to make sure our stay was relaxed. Thank you.”

“Booked room only in a "Very good" room, which i would probably describe as good. The pictures online make it look a lot bigger. We travelled in the heatwave, and the small window in the rooms only opened a few inches. There was a small fan provided, but for me, it just moved the hot air. Due to the heat, I didn't get much sleep. Also at 6am on Monday morning, the bin men came, crashing, banging and emptying the bottle bin at 1000 decibels.
Prior to arrival, I rang to request a parking space as a blue badge holder. The lady I spoke to said they had a space, but it was about 40 steep steps down to the hotel. She explained there was a pay and display car park up the road, on the flat.
On arrival, we went to the hotel car park, and wow, she wasn't wrong. I took a while to get down the steps, but knew there was no way I would be getting up them. On check in, the lady I spoke to took us to see an accessible room, but it was quite small and dark, so stuck with our original room, up two flights of stairs, no lift due to the age of the property. On departure, I found it easier to exit the hotel, and walk the route to the car park along the main street. Uphill, but no steps.
All in all, if you have any mobility issues this isn't the place for you, however the lady on check in went over and above to find the most suitable room, and even offered to carry our bags. We did not eat at the hotel. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.”
