The Colonial Hotel Reviews
Summary: We chose the Colonial Hotel because it was closest to an event we were attending in a nearby town. We usually stay at name brand hotels that have franchised properties across the country and that we have experienced as predictably good places to stay. The Colonial Hotel was definitely the right choice. Their front desk staff was welcoming and the room was comfortable and clean. We arrive late in the evening and did something we seldom do -- had dinner at the restaurant on the property. The Grille had a nice menu, the waiter staff was personable and attentive, and we enjoyed our seafood and beef meals. Should we return to this beautiful area of Massachusetts, this would be where we would stay again.

Summary: So first thing, no alcohol allowed on property if not bought on premises. It should be noted upfront we were there for our anniversary so our plans for an intimate evening with a bottle or two of wine did not happen. We did end up going to the bar and enjoyed the staff they were very observant and personable.
However it is outdated and the furniture in the room was pretty scratched. No usb ports and minimal plugs. We were in room 130, there was mold on the inside of the bathroom door which you would see if you closed the bathroom door to use the bathroom - there was no fan in the bathroom or the fan in the bathroom didn’t work.
I will preface that I am a light sleeper and woke up multiple times throughout the night, I think I didn’t sleep more than an hour at a time. However my husband who sleeps better only woke up twice because of the noise.
Trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt but I don’t usually leave reviews until the second time I stay if it is someplace remote. I don’t see myself coming back, I would rather travel the extra 20-30 minutes to stay somewhere more maintained and what the regulations are prior to booking.

Summary: Our stay was nice, king size bed was very comfortable and warm. Carpet in the rooms were well maintained, and bathrooms look new. Overall, a comfortable night!

Summary: It would be wonderful if a coffee bar was set up in the lobby, even just for a few hours each morning. We find it such an inconvenience to have to leave the property for a decent, not perked in our room, coffee.
Otherwise we love this hotel for it’s location, beautiful grounds, great staff and cleanliness.

Summary: Wonderful and clean! Top notch staff! The colonial grill onsite is also excellent and the service is great! We will be back! The only thing that was tough was the WiFi seemed to go in and out.

Summary: The hotel was great by most accounts. However, apparently there was a leak when I bathed and it leaked downstairs. Our complaint was maintenance making repairs at 8am without any notice. We were literally in the bed when the whole floor started shaking and the loudness of the tools to go through the ceiling. I'm glad they were making repairs but having us move rooms BEFORE waking us up so abruptly would have been better.
