Summary: Blockley is a picturesque village situated close to Moreton in Marsh and The Crown Hotel looked appealing online. Sadly, my experience did not reflect the advertisement.
I was shown to a single room that bore absolutely no resemblance to the photo displayed online. The room was small and uninviting with no attempt at styling, no pictures, filthy fly-stained net curtain and unhung curtains, mismatched furniture, no bedside cabinet or chair, a small old wall mounted television poised at an angle to the floor. More like very sub-standard student accommodation. The bathroom was a disabled shower room with dirty grout and floor tiles. The sink was too small to fit the kettle under so the small glass had to be used to fill it for hot drinks.
Breakfast the next morning was underwhelming. No one to greet guests and I waited for 25 minutes before my order was finally taken. No fresh fruit or wholemeal bread option for toast or croissants on display. The cooked breakfast when it eventually arrived was average but arrived too late for me to finish as I had to leave for a course.
Overall a very disappointing stay and not worth the late booking offer of £112.50 paid after a 10% Hotels.com discount.

Summary: The rooms were basic and a bit dated, but comfortable and clean. Staff were great, really friendly and welcoming, and the bar was lively in the evening with locals as well as guests, giving it a bit of atmosphere. The cooked breakfast was good, although the continental breakfast selection is limited - just toast, pastries, yoghurts and fruit.
Marked cleanliness down due to the state of the gents toilet in the bar, which was not pleasant. The room itself was clean though.

Summary: The staff was so friendly. We had dinner there and breakfast. The food was very good. The room could use new carpets, but otherwise the it was comfortable.

Summary: Staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful, permanently smiling and genuinely happy to help. The property isn’t new so of course you expect some of the fixtures and fittings to be slightly worn. However the bedroom and bathroom were cleaned to a high standard. The food in the restaurant was simply superb, good value and extremely tasty.
Only one slight niggle was the lack of water pressure for the shower in my room. I obviously don’t know if this was a problem in other rooms though.
Overall I’d rate the establishment very highly and would not hesitate to return.

Summary: Welcoming Receptionist, a room in a separate building at the back of the carpark is quite with nice view . Handy carpark though not much room for a bigger car if one arrives after 5 p.m.

Summary: It was ok. Staff was fine. The room could use a bit of updating. The biggest problem was lack of airflow. I wasn’t expecting air conditioning but there was no cross breeze at all and the room was very stuffy. The fan helped a bit but it was difficult to sleep. The days after we were there were even warmer so I’m not sure if it would be bearable.
