Beautiful location and great. People.. the 3rd floor is loud when people are on the rooftop bar.. ask for 2nd floor

We stated 1 night at the Earl and it was great! This was our favorite hotel of our week long trip. I'll mention the only 2 downsides up front: 1. There is only 1 elevator and it's at the very front of the building by check in so if your room is on the other side of the building (it's shaped like a square missing 1 side) then you may have some walking to do BUT this was fine for us and we used the circular staircases when leaving instead. 2. Parking is limited inside their parking lot, however you can park on the main road right next to the building usually and that worked out fine for us as well. The upsides: The location is wonderful and right by downtown and the drawbridge that opens every half hour. Super cool to see the big boats come through. You can also walk to the beach area and up to the mushroom houses if you are good with hills and we enjoyed this walk! The room was MASSIVE - truly twice the size of any other rooms we stayed in at other hotels. The bathroom was also quite large and stocked with Beekman products which was a very nice touch. The staff were top notch! We had no issues with check in or check out. They were able to provide great dining recommendations as well!

When we arrived we had a difficult time finding a place to park. Not enough parking for guests. Our room was small and there were fecal stains inside the toilet. The bathroom was so small that only one person could be in there at a time. For the price that I paid for what we received, I would not recommend it. Lots of other places for less money.

Great property! They were able to accommodate checking me in early upon my arrival. Standard room was comfortable and spacious, modernly decorated; only complaint about the room was that a few of the lights weren't working. It is conveniently located and in walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The complimentary parking is very limited, although I was able to secure parking for the duration of my stay.

We splurged, hoping for a top of the line experience. The hotel is very attractive. The staff was friendly. However, corners were cut in ways that didn't make sense for a place that costs well over $300 night. The complimentary breakfast was very basic, Hampton Inn variety food. There were not actual coffee mugs. Just those foamy paper type cups. The Earl puts a lot of effort into maintaining two bars. Martini glasses abound. Couldn't we have a simple coffee cup?

The Earl was perfect for us- beautifully clean, in a lovely part of Charlevoix, welcoming to our dog, exercise area, pool and hot tub, good breakfast, and very friendly staff!

The only complaint that we had was the noise from the HVAC system. Other than that, it has a European vibe which we appreciated, including the exact coffee machine we used in Paris. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
