“Had an amazing long weekend for my husbands birthday. Thoroughly recommend staying here”

“Good - staff was helpful at check in, the room was not ready but he gave us the key to the room as we wouldn't be back again to the hotel until after midnight. Not good - the room (room 3) smelt like a smoking room, nothing we could do as we didn't get into the room until after midnight so had to stay there and all our clothes now has the horrible smell. I asked at check out if all their rooms are non smoking and told her about the smell, she said yes and she would let the management know. Also, in the morning from 8ish, there was constant door slamming, like every 1-2 minutes for about half an hour, found out it was the staff going in and out of the annex, instead of keeping the door open, they just kept letting the door slam. Apart from the above, there are a few broken bits in the room that needs fixing, I think the bed is one of them. Unsure how it got 9.0 review on here, I chose the hotel based on that but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst stays we had.”

“We had a wonderful stay at the Fleece. The hotel has a lovely location on the green and near the church. Checking in was great, and also the staff that served us during both dinner and at breakfast were so lovely and looked after us really well. The guy at breakfast was working his socks off to serve everyone but managed it with humour too! The food at dinner was delicious, and the breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had. It was obviously a popular place for food too as it was busy the whole time. My only criticism is that the area on the way to our room was very tired, and initially I was concerned about our booking, so a bit of a refresh is needed.”

“Lovely room outside the pub, with everything you could want. It was lovely and clean and the pub was also lovely so will be book again soon.”

“The Fleece is in a great position, right on the Church Green. Perfect for where we needed to be. Our room (room 2) was upstairs in building across from the back of the pub. Large room with a very comfy bed and pillows. Uncomfortably hot as we stayed during a very hot week. Fan provided but only pushed warm air around the room and the window was very small so not much air coming in. Bedroom and bathroom were a bit tired. Window blind hanging off and toilet seat barely attached but we did inform the duty staff member when we left as it wasn't the end of the world while we were staying. Nice staff and good evening meal. Didn't have breakfast but enjoyed sitting outside the front of the pub with cold drinks. Despite a few downsides we would definitely consider staying again”

“Our room was spotless with everything you needed in it. The staff very helpful and friendly. We had a Sunday roast and then breakfast the following morning which was very nice. Will definitely return.”

“Nice location, parking available, clean room with good amenities, quick check-in and room ready despite early arrival. Helpful and friendly staff, and a very good breakfast in the morning. Overall we were pleased with our stay here. ”
