The Hartness House | Hotel in Springfield, Vermont

“Beautiful grounds and common areas. Room was plain which was fine but a/c was inefficient and the bed was just ok. K-cups are not coffee in my book, and we had better pastry elsewhere. The location was great for us, the town is cute. Everything was closed on Sunday so we headed to Chester which is close and adorable too. All the towns shut down early so plan accordingly even restaurants and ice cream places. Vermont is gorgeous and friendly. If you get a chance, do go.”

“What a beautiful place! A quick move back in time to some really lovely spaces. The coffee and pastries were excellent and so appreciated, and the room and bed were delightful We really enjoyed our weekend away.”

“Quaint stay in Springfield, VT in a 1904 built mansion which is a National Historic Landmark. Wonderful room in the attached hotel adjacent to the mansion. The rooms were beautiful and the mansion itself had a coffee & drink station in a beautiful reading room complete with grand piano, 1920s-era music, and a library. The property is quiet but close to the downtown. It's a 12 minute walk to the downtown area. The Copper Fox is a must try restaurant. The atmosphere and experience can't be beat. My wife and I will be returning in the future.”

“So be aware, YOU ARE PROBABLY NOT SLEEPING IN THE BEAUTIFUL MANSION. There is long ugly gray motel in the back, where the rooms actually are. Our host was lovely on check in & I kinda feel bad for this tepid review but as our friend said "this place has all the charm of a upscale Motel 6". Our room was clean & ok for a nights sleep though & the price was right for us. Room 24's bed had the DREADED "constantly roll into the middle of the mattress" SWALE in it, our friends said, so maybe they could replace that. The motel connects to the mansion & your are kindly told you can come, "check it out at night & in the morning there is continental breakfast & coffee" here. I actually wish they opened the beautiful bar on the weekend so we could have sat there & had a drink instead of going back to the Motel 6. Anyway, it was fine, but not exactly what we expected. ”

“No usual & customary check in-Envelope put on front door for check in. Unfortunately, we were in the way back of mansion in a double bed room no microwave or refrigerator. However, Tyler the inn keeper was fabulous. Took my daughter on an under ground tour of the museum, laboratory & telescope. Interesting history on the Hartness House. We would stay again, picking a room in the main mansion.”
