Positive:
The room had views of the South Downs, and was clean and modern; a fan was provided which helped with the warm night. The evening meal at the pub was pretty standard pricing and quality, and the small courtyard at the back is nicely designed with plants etc., and allowed us to eat outside; bar-staff were very pleasant. The pub is in a quiet country hamlet and near-by trains did not disturb our sleep.
Negative:
When I booked, I was unclear whether breakfast was included although, as per the confirmation, it wasn't. Previous breakfast reviews mostly precede a recent change in management and should be disregarded. The continental breakfast we chose was good value, if basic, and the toast was real bread. On the down-side, we were not offered tea-refills, orange juice was 'extra', and there was some confusion over 'pastries' mentioned on the menu; I think the new management need to improve customer communication.
Summary: Good value, comfortable - some niggles re breakfast.

Negative:
We stayed in the middle of the late June heat wave 37 C and the menu was restricted to allow kitchen staff some necessary relief, so evening menus were limited.
Breakfast was limited to a number of set combinations, not self selection at a breakfast bar.
No aircon but good fans were provided.
Summary: Quite adequate for our purposes - to attend a wedding at the Barnes some 15 minutes drive away

Positive:
Lovely pub with a nice courtyard garden, very nice dining area and a really nice traditional bar area. We stayed in the heatwave and the staff were working really hard in difficult circumstances to accomodate everyone. We only ate a BLT sandwich as it was just too hot to need anything more and it helped the poor kitchen staff as it was well into the 40`s in the kitchen, and most places had even closed their kitchens due to the excessive heat. The breakfast choices were good and the full english was lovely just enough for us but with the option to add extras if required. Well done to the lovely staff, we will definately be returning.
Negative:
Nothing to dislike for us
Summary: Great country pub
