The River House Suite - waterfront walkout  |  House in Westmeath

Nestled in the whitewater capital of Canada and cottage country, The River House is a waterfront grey stone bungalow with a red tin roof and a newly renovated, rustic, walkout basement level apartment with beautiful views of the majestic and infamous Ottawa River where each of the three rooms have a picturesque view of the water. There is no shortage of outdoorsy fun and adventure with some of the best white-water rapids in the world nearby. There is also some amazing mountain-biking and hiking. I live in the upper level of the home with my wife and daughter. The River House is only steps away from the waterfront where you have access to a sprawling green lawn, sandy beaches, a dock and clean water to swim and play in. There are two sit-on-top kayaks and a canoe available for your use and you are welcome to BYOTs (Bring your own toys). For white-water paddlers, the public put-in is only a 10 min drive away and the take-out a 20 min drive. There is white-water rafting and white-water kayaking including kayak instruction, guiding and tours in 2-person kayaks available locally. Please inquire for more info. Flat-water enthusiasts have waterfront and beach access 75feet from the walk-out door. For mountain bikers and hikers, there is a network of excellent trails based just outside of beachburg and along the mighty and majestic Ottawa River for all skill levels. Please inquire. Road biking is also very popular in this rural and scenic area. Pembroke, a small city of 15,000 is only 25 mins away and has all of the amenities one would expect or require. The quaint and pleasant little villages of Beachburg and Westmeath are only 10 minutes away and also have many amenities. The cute, tiny and picturesque village of Lapasse, commonly referred to as ‘LA’ is a mere 45 second drive or a 2km walk from the River House and has a small church and a boat launch. There are two locations to purchase groceries and alcohol closeby, one being Kenny’s General Store in Westmeath and the other being the LCBO and Pronto in Beachburg. There are a few restaurants in the area, one being the very popular Whitewater Brewery. Please ask for more info and/or directions. Once you get back, unwind on the balcony most units feature, or head down to the pool and fitness center for a change of scenery. Every suite comes with free WiFi, a flat-screen TV, and cashless, contactless self check-in via the virtual front desk. A private bathroom, single-room air conditioning, and a full kitchen are featured in every 42–91 m² suite or studio. King beds furnish the 1-bedroom suites, while studios pair a queen with a sofa bed, and select studios add a soaking bathtub. Full toiletries are stocked throughout, and thanks to the in-unit washer and dryer, you’ll be able to travel light.
