The Thatched Cottage Inn | Hotel in Cannards Grave, England

“Really enjoyed our stay here. Delightful quaint hotel with lovely ancient rooms full of character. Owners were very helpful and let us pick up the room keys early since we were attending a local festival. However, we had to ring them to confirm this since no comms whatsoever through the hotel.Com messaging service despite multiple attempts.. Also Hotel.Com stated that a full English breakfast was included in the rate but only continental breakfast was offered by the hotel. This is unacceptable and needs sorting out soonest by Hotel.Com so guests are not misled. However, overall we enjoyed our night at the thatched cottage inn and would stay again.”

“Room was brilliant, cooked breakfast was amazing, continental breakfast did the job but quite basic, coffee machine was down too but overall for the price a good stay, plus there was a big event on nearby so we were lucky to get the room”

“The property looks great from the outside, and the bedrooms are good sized on the inside. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and there was a bath with shower over. They provide a continental breakfast only which is self service and basic. There were three cereal choices, Cranberry juice or water to drink and tea and toast. The butter had been previously used and the hygiene wasn't very good. There was fruit in the shape of apples or Blackish bananas. The dining room hadn't been cleaned from the night before so the floor and tables were horribly sticky.”

“A rather sad, tired looking pub. I think it was in the process of changing licensee and the poor chap behind the bar was run off his feet, serving drinks, doing the food orders, taking the food from the kitchen and clearing the tables. If more overnight guests had arrived, I expect he would have to have checked them in as well. It’s an old building and I need of a complete refurbishment, and also has very thin walls between the rooms. Our stay was only booked because I didn’t fancy the hour and a half’s drive home after walking round the antiques fair all day, but now regret booking it as we decided that we would get a better nights sleep at home because of the noise, so we packed up and drove home. As, I say, not the staffs fault, but even though it is reasonable priced, I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone.”

“The room was great, very clean, large and well appointed. We were greeted warmly on arrival where it was explained that a full breakfast was extra despite what was quoted online (and what we had chosen - and paid for). The manager did say that this error was not his fault and they were trying to get it corrected however it seems that the customer is being made to take responsibility for this. A continental breakfast is included however this consists only of cereal, toast and a bowl of fruit so does not actually mean breakfast, there was no yogurt, pastries or anything else so really a hot breakfast is required, at an additional cost. We did have a great sleep and the building is charming and staff friendly but unfortunately due to feeling overcharged I cannot give a better review. Errors with advertising should not be passed on to customers.”
