Tropical Islands | Hotel in Briesen

We stayed during the summer, and the room was extremely warm. Unfortunately, there wasn’t even an electric fan, which made it very uncomfortable, especially at night. The breakfast was better than expected, with a good selection of food. However, the organization was poor. The line to get breakfast was very long, and everyone had to queue in the same line. It would be much better if they created separate lines for food and drinks or divided the stations to make the process faster and less crowded.

We spent 1 night in the dome at "Travelers Lodge". Entrance and check-in from inside the dome, and view to the outside of the dome. Room was spacious, clean and comfy beds, but had no air-conditioning. Lots of choices at breakfast. The tickets for the whole facility is included in the overnight stay. You just need to be out of your room at 10am following morning, but you can stay there the whole day until closing at 11.30pm. All "payments" inside the dome, food, drinks, souvenirs etc., is done on your wrist-device, given to you upon check-in. That is also the key to your room. Then you'll pay your credit in a machine before leaving. Very convenient. But could also be very expensive, so be aware. All in all, a great experience with the whole Tropical Island. Car park is €8 a day.

The check-in procedure was absolutely horrible and extremely slow - I randomly found a link later where we might have been able to check-in online but the information was extremely hard to find. Also the checkout procedure was mostly as cumbersome as well as all information says we need to "checkout" exactly at 10 AM - this is not true, we need to "leave the room" no later than 10AM - again very confusing information available. Also, it wasn't obvious that we should pay the armwrist credits at the machines near reception, we did that, but didn't pay for the actual stay as the reception employees were too distracted with all kinds of non-customer related tasks. The customer service level is absolutely horrible. I wouldn't have expected this in Germany anywhere. The facilities were extremely well done and very positive though.

The breakfast was about the same as most theme parks I've been to. Below hotel standards. It wasn't horrible, but not memorable in any way. The fruit was fresh though, which was nice.

Check how many cups you get charged for on your wristwallet. Some try to scam you! Happened to us twice! You get a refund for the cups you get drinks in. Very unfriendly person at the information. We had been told at check-in that we could get a prolonged check-out and to get it at the information desk and then she just said that it's not possible. When we asked why the will river was closed, she said it was being renovated, but the next day it was open again, which she said nothing about. Also the big slides sign said closes at 19:45, but closed at 17:45. However, we met very nice staff from India who were very helpful. A really nice guy at the Sawadee restaurant, a nice guy and girl at the basketball competition stand and one guy who cleaned the rooms. Advice for improvement: have training sessions for the staff. When we asked 2 guys if there were lockers they said no. Then we found both small and big ones. Otherwise very nice and fresh room at the Ohana part.

It took us more than two hours to check-in. Basically the whole time that we had planned to go swimming, we stood in a heated check-in line. By the time we made it to the pool all the slides were closed. At the pool they also told us our wristbands weren’t activated so we had to go back to the info to do that. By the time we had swam there wasn’t any place open to get anything decent to eat (we found a snack bar). Even there the lines were awfully long. At the reception they also told us wrong place to go to have breakfast so in the morning we walked all the way there to be told we were supposed to go to another restaurant. Swimming part we did like. .

The staff could definitely benefit from a charm course! There was no room cleaning despite staying for more than two days. The shops have a limited selection, especially if you're staying with younger children. It's also quite pricey, and it feels like they're trained to make sure every single penny is paid when buying food or other items (they even opened our candy bag to check that we hadn't added anything else 😅). Otherwise, it's a nice place to visit with children, with plenty of activities and lots to explore.

Good to stay at night in Tropical Island-however check in is not intuitive (issue with QR code check-in and finally reception is outside of Teopocal Island. Some of the staff not speak English which is problematic

Stupid idea to move the check in from the venue to far away... Else good as always
