“Absolutely loved this hidden gem. It was a bit far off the path but absolutely worth it. Staff was lovely and the food was so good. We had a huge tub in our room and the bathroom had heated floors.”

“Slightly faded glory in this charming ex-shooting lodge hotel beyond the back of beyond, with taxidermy, paintings and a Victorian vibe, perfect for a one-night stay. Our rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable; the plumbing almost retro in its age but everything worked fine and the water was hot. Our cooked breakfast and three course evening meal the night before were perfect and there was a good selection of wines. Clientele was predominantly Europeans with a few Brits during our visit. Only complaint was that we couldnt get either of our electric room heaters to work, but maybe they were disabled as it was June. I'd recommend it and go back.”

“This was the only hotel that had availability for the one night that we needed whilst doing the NC500 . We were aware it was off the beaten track so was easy to find. On arrival we struggled to park, but once parked we went to check in and the door to the hotel was very narrow so struggled to get a suitcase thru easily. pressed the buzzer for someone to check us in , no one came and after 10 mins went looking for someone. Got up to the room, .. was dissapointed. The room was very dated and not clean , there was mould in the bathroom also . The TV didnt work , had to get it tuned in by man at reception who tried his best , but most the services on it were taken off or missing. So ended up watching TV on a tablet. Can't comment on the food as didnt have any due to the price of the room being expensive for what it was and the food prices being expensive. The rooms could do with refurbishments and upgrades.The property itself was actually quite charming and had a historic feel to it.”

“Interesting (quirky) lodge a bit shabby round the edges. Hard to tell if it's part way through a gradual renovation or is on a journey of deterioration but everything works and there is plenty of comfortable comunal areas to sit with drinks from the bar. The food in the restaurant and at breakfast was very good. Can be a bit cold as not all areas are well heated but the room was fine with the electric radiator provided.”

“Room clean, pretty basic, bathroom very poorly designed with nowhere to store washbag. No extractor fan so completely steamed up after showering. Entry door to room had faulty lock which could easily have left you locked out of room. Can't belive management hadn't noticed it. Dangerous rug right in front of open fire in the bar lounge with curled up edges, real trip hazard. Food pretty good. Hotel itself is totally isolated, although we did know that before booking. ”
