“We recently stayed about a week at the Frania Boutique Hotel in San Juan, La Union. It was a good value and had a good location for our activities in the La Union area. It is in the province but has aircon and wifi. There are trike taxi stands nearby along MacArthur Highway if you didn’t drive yourself. While you could walk to the beach or nearby Jollibee, you’ll likely want to take a trike for 50 pesos to either. Nearby “don’t miss” dining includes Kabsat and Masa bakery. Within an hour you can go north to Luna or south to Agoo. San Juan proper is just a few kilometers away and San Fernando not too much farther in the other direction. The staff was friendly and helpful the few times we needed something. There was an issue with the utility electricity and the hotel was able to run their generator. If you want to stay in San Juan, want aircon and wifi but don’t want to pay for being directly on the beach Frania could be a good choice.”
