Northwinds Motel  |  Hotel in Mackinaw City

No beach, No breakfast, No pool, No check in at place had to drive to a different motel. Shows pictures of all on the page. Room was clean But paint peeling everywhere. Daughter and I wouldn't use the tub/shower husband did. Covered in rust, tiles and grout falling off the walls. Views outside was fantastic of the bridge and island otherwise would have got 1 star.

I liked the view, I liked the setting of the private deck 15 feet from water, to hear lapping waves is serene! But, maybe because room was unused there was a need to clean, as there were some spiders. The sliding screen to deck was ripped, so couldn't leave door open without bugs coming in. Deck needed restaining and grill was deplorable. So, after asking housekeeping to refresh room, it was a pleasant stay. Both my husband and I note that the bed was wonderful, slept like a baby... Staff was wonderful! You are on your own, and depending what you want to pay for, this is ok. If you want a five star go somewhere else. I have stayed 2 times, the other stay was in another private deck room. So, I knew what I was getting.

Great location! Very clean room. Easy check in and helpful staff. The downside is the exterior of the building, which is a shame because it has so much potential. The building needs a power wash and the windows are very dirty. A little upkeep would go a long way. And although the room was nice and clean, neither bedside lamp worked, there was no remote for the tv, no internet, and the shower didn’t drain. The vanity sink was cracked. With such a beautiful location I would suggest hiring some window cleaning and maintenance and it would be an excellent affordable place to stay.

Very very old hotel. You get what you pay for (and sometimes even more like the baggie of pills behind the nightstand).

I have been using the same owners for 21 years and it is a wonderful location and view of the bridge and the Grand hotel on the island

It was right on the ocean!! It was great!

You get what you get for the price. $70 a night is a great price. Beds are comfy.... some of other issues people listed we did not encounter. Water was fine, ac was good, tv worked. Sure it could use renovations but then the price would go up. Decent for the price, maybe im just a simple person.

Veyr poor upkeep & maintenance

Could swim right outside the slider door. Bed was very comfortable. Sand on floor from previous guest and no towels or soap. We had to ask for them

Staff friendly. Room not clean. Had to ask for towels. When received, they were damp. Window air conditioner over-the-top loud. Room quite ugly.
