Red Ranch Motel | Hotel in Catskill, New York

“The property was very well kept and room clean. I did not like that I was told that I could check in early if I paid an extra 25.00. Also wasp problem. Was stung walking into the door that leads to the stairs.”

“Red Ranch Inn was clean, convenient, and memorable in a way only a roadside motel can be. Check-in was great. The woman at reception was lovely, the grounds were well maintained, and the room itself was impressively clean. The location is also solid, about 10 minutes from downtown Catskill and 15 minutes from Saugerties. The room had a cozy, rustic feel with new floors, an updated bathroom, consistent internet, and plenty of 1970s motel charm. That said, the door felt a little too “Hollywood prop” for comfort. It was loose in the frame, with light coming through all four sides, although there was a deadbolt and chain. The mattress was very firm, which I don’t mind, but it seemed vinyl-covered and was sweaty to sleep on, even with extra sheets. The supplied soap and shampoo also looked and smelled exactly the same, so that was a tiny mystery. The real entertainment came from the parking lot. On Friday afternoon, a very loud dirt bike made repeated loops through the motel lot and down the road. Later, the bike returned for more laps with a rotating cast of riders. Saturday morning brought loud music, yelling, and a visit from the state police. Thankfully, things settled down each time, and there were long stretches of quiet. “25 minutes from Hunter Mountain”

“When we arrived, there was a ton of confusion. A film crew was setting up to film scenes in an upcoming Amazon film. We were directed to the rear of the property as we were mistaken as some of the crew. When we finally did get to check in with the front desk they told us that "this was only going on for the next few days" which meant our entire stay. Next, after settling into our room, our vehicle was entirely surrounded by gear belonging to the film crew. There was poor communication between the film crew and the Motel staff, and the staff at the motel was perplexed as to why this might be an inconvenience. Additionally, there was water squishing up through the vinyl plank flooring from below onto the surface of the floor. Perhaps they had flooding from a burst pipe earlier. but they should have better addressed the issue before renting the room. Communication about a large film crew on the premises before renting the room would have been a large plus as well.”

“The room was spacious. Close to Hunter Mountain. Price was good. The reception was not the best. The person acted like he was doing us a favor by answering questions. Not the most friendliest.”

“The sinks and mirror were not cleaned from the previous guest. Shower curtain stained and so thin that the entire bathroom got wet from the shower. Beds were comfortable and clean. Nice outside area for the kids. Friendly staff. Good quality for the price.”
