Summary: How to rate the Sparkford Inn.
On arrival, we were firmly told that they do not do breakfast.
Interesting, as the lady checking in before me had also booked for bed AND breakfast. The guy was nice enough, but not exactly outgoing.
I had gone mad & booked the deluxe room, as we were staying for 3 nights. The bed was lovely, very comfortable. The sitting room had a fridge, very useful but not sure it worked as a focal point for the room.
Windows were very old, and could not be closed. Fresh air lovely, but near the vent from the kitchens, so annoying noise. Carpet was worn, needs replacing.
The bathroom. Ah.
The inn is an old building, and we thought that maybe the bathroom was original. A shallow bath with a very high step in to use the shower. Grubby shower screen in desperate need of a good limescale cleaner. (I mean, seriously, how difficult is it to CLEAN a glass shower screen?). The black mold and gunge at the bottom of the screen were, we assumed, a courtesy detail.
The loo seat was not secure - quite a surprise! We asked for it to be fixed, and it was ... for about 12 hours. No, we were not doing anything unusual with it!
And the smell ... oh, goodness, the smell. Kind of rotten potatoes meets silage. No fix.
When we arrived, only 2 tea bags in the room, and dirty drinkware. I think this room was only serviced every other day, as on our third day of 4, the room was untouched.
If you want a clean bed for a night, great. I cannot recommend it for a longer stay.

Summary: Stayed at the sparkford inn on 3rd Sept for one night. The room we were given was room 8.
It was comfortable and clean, when we went to wash and freshen up. we noticed that there wasn't any hot water. I went down to the bar to tell the lady behind the bar we had no hot water, she said she could change our. Then we asked for an update she said that someone was coming to reset the boiler. We waited but this never happened. In the morning I went down to complain but everything was locked up. Hence this review.
If this place was ok, we would have used it on the way back from Cornwall as well.

Summary: Sparkford inn is a charming building with very old structures.
The staffing is very limited but amazingly helpful and kind .
If you want to experience old charm and not expecting modern amenities, clean sheets and bathrooms but a few cracks in the walls , sparkford inn is the place to go.
A little bit of renovation can make sparkford inn a little piece of heaven guarded by the AMAZINGLY KIND staff .

Summary: Great value Marston's character pub/inn with dining in a quiet convenient location with car park. We were visiting the Haynes museum as it's very close by. The food was nice, we got 40% off from the website.
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable.
