The George Hotel | Hotel in Castle Cary, England

“My 2nd stay at the George and a really lovely one too. Room 8 is so far my favourite. Great dinner in the restaurant with a nice pint of Hawkstone! Staff are great and really helpful. WiFi works, but internet a little slow. Then again, not in the centre of London so better than expected. TV only really shows BBC1 without pixelation. Didn't bother me as I used my tablet. Bed comfy and plenty of coffee / tea. Bathroom is spacious enough. Large shower. Pressure a bit weak but good enough. Fantastic breakfast. Will be staying again!”

“Big quirky room with a four poster bed and good sized bathroom. Armchairs positioned for watching the big TV and a desk and chest of drawers containing an iron and hair dryer. A little surprised there wasn't a wardrobe but there were places you could hang stuff up. Lovely staff who were friendly and efficient. Food is delicious and the breakfast included the biggest omelettes I've ever seen! The only downsides were rather low pressure in the shower, though this could have been us not having used an electric shower for ages, and I found the mattress a bit soft but my wife loved it and was out like a light. I would definitely recommend this hotel and it's a good base for exploring the area like Frome.”

“The George is a lovely, old-fashioned kind of hotel in a small village. Check in was a little confused as we missed the sign that said reception but once we found it, it was easy. The room was spacious with a king sized bed, kettle, desk and chair. I was extremely impressed with the breakfast. Tea, coffee, juice, cereal and toast then a cooked choice from the menu. Staff were super friendly and helpful. A lovely stay and we would definitely return.”

“Stayed in a tired room with mattress very old; full of springs. Previous occupants medication not removed. Room was expensive for what we got. (Room 8) ”

“The hotel/pub is run down and the rooms extremely poor. The bathroom was dirty with walls with stream marks. The only mirror was so high i could only see the top of head. The bed was very soft and the glass door to the outside had no curtain. Most lights didn’t work. The bathroom had poorly cut planks of wood as a wall.”
