The family room is spacious and comfortable and pleasantl. The staff are friendly, kind and welcoming.. The breakfast was great. We well definitely stay again.

I got to the pub the land lady was very helpful as in showing me to the room etc but the room had a couple of marks on the ceiling where someone had splattered a spider of a moth or something, there was a small piece of plaster missing. There where some cushions on the bed that looked like my Nan had on her sofa in the 1930s. The bathroom wasn't to bad but the shower had mould on the ceiling for which I didn't use. The land lady was very nice but the land lord just liked his local drinkers when he served me he seemed very hostile towards me, he just wanted to chat to his locals at the bar at £6.50 a pint you would think that he would be a bit more friendly towards paying guests. The food was very nice and so was the breakfast. Just the basil fawlty of the premise spoiled it for me. One day he might go and someone with hosting skills will take the pub over.

I would call the room we stayed in cheap and cheerful. Room was pretty clean, the only issue we found was quite a bit of black mould in the shower cubicle. The staff were very friendly and remembered my wife’s intolerances for breakfast. The breakfast was very good, well cooked and nice ingredients used. We decided not to have any evening meals after reading about the service charge they automatically add to bills. We don’t agree with this and never understand why places do this as it only upsets customers and puts them off returning. If you are looking for a cheap room and a good base to explore the area then this place is a good option.

Great value for money, excellent breakfast and very helpful staff

Fantastic stop over. Very interesting 18th century old coaching inn converted to Pub/Hotel. Nice outside area to have a few beers and bite to eat. Kitchen was closed when we arrived but our excellent host asked the chef to made us some toasted cheese sandwiches and fries, which we ate listening to some great nostalgic music blasting away from the outside speakers. Definitely have the the pork sausages in the morning. Locally made. Best I've every had!

Check in was great, we got there earlier than expected. As we had to be off early in the morning, we couldn't stay for breakfast, so the manager provided us with a hearty take away lunch, lovely thick ham butties. Kept me going all day. Nice pub, a couple of decent real ales on, we didn't eat there but the food looked, and smelled nice, and we heard a couple of the customers commenting nicely about it.
